RAFAEL NADAL WINS 3RD US OPEN TITLE

Rafael Nadal overwhelmed first-time major finalist Kevin Anderson 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 to win his third US Open men’s singles title. This is his 16th Grand Slam. It is the No. 1-ranked Nadal’s second Grand Slam title of the year and 16th overall. Among men, only longtime rival Roger Federer has more, with 19.

Along with the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the French Open, the US Open is one of the four historic tennis tournaments which make up the legendary Grand Slam.  The four tournaments all being played on different surfaces: Plexi cushion in Australia, clay at Roland Garros, grass at Wimbledon and Decoturf at the US Open.
